Associate Software Engineer

Role Overview

Looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join the Dataprep Team at Alteryx. You will contribute to building the core execution layer for applications in the Alteryx analytics cloud alongside industry peers and mentors.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building, maintaining, and testing backend services using Java and Spring / Spring Boot.
• Implement and consume RESTful APIs for frontend interactions and service integrations.
• Write clean, testable code, participate in code reviews, and learn CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (frontend, QA, product) to deliver incremental features and fix bugs.
• Debug issues, write unit tests, and help maintain core code reliability.
• Maintain active awareness of emerging software practices and AI tooling to optimize personal productivity and code quality.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of software development experience (or strong internship/academic project experience) in Java and Spring.
• Solid grasp of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), core data structures, algorithms, and basic design patterns.
• Foundational understanding of relational or NoSQL databases, SQL, and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Git version control, unit testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit), and basic CI/CD concepts.
• Strong AI appetite: Enthusiasm for exploring AI capabilities and learning how AI tools intersect with modern engineering.
• Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and a collaborative team mindset.

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or IDE assistants).
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Basic understanding of microservices architecture or data processing systems.
• Knowledge of Node.js or frontend basics.
